James Pilkington, MD, FACS, is welcoming patients at Great Lakes Surgical Associates in Mt. Pleasant and Alma. He is on the active medical staff at Gratiot Medical Center.
Philosophy of Care
“I was drawn to surgical care because I loved having the opportunity to fix people and make them feel better relatively quickly,” said Dr. Pilkington. “I believe in providing complete surgical care, including answering a patient’s questions before surgery and providing follow-up treatment after the surgery.”
Dr. Pilkington is a member of Great Lakes Surgical Associates. Their mission is to provide patients with state-of-the-art surgical care in a comfortable, compassionate environment. The surgeons of GLSA specialize in minimally invasive solutions to common surgical problems.
Dr. Pilkington has been in practice in Mt. Pleasant since 2000. He resides there with his wife and three sons. Outside of the practice of medicine, he coaches baseball and enjoys golfing, skiing and watching Tigers baseball.
Special Interests and Procedures
As a general surgeon, Dr. Pilkington performs many different types of surgeries including bariatric surgery (laparoscopic gastric banding/Roux-en-Y gastric bypass/sleeve gastrectomy), endoscopic procedures, endocrine, anti-reflux, hernia, colon, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast and thyroid surgeries.
